The Ivory Coast international was replaced at half-time in the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford earlier this month and Megson has confirmed that Meite was not injured.

"He just decided he didn't want to play on against Manchester United in the second half," Megson told Sky Sports News.

"The players weren't happy with it, the squad wasn't happy with it.

"Abdoulaye turned down the opportunity to go to Ipswich on loan but I'd have let him go.

"There's another couple of Championship clubs he can go to until the end of the season. It's not a case that we won't pick Abdoulaye Meite, it's a case of we've got people playing in that position and playing very well."

Meite has made 70 appearances for Bolton since joining the club from Marseille in the summer of 2006.
