The Norway international has spent recent games on the substitute's bench after losing his place in the first team to Fabio Aurelio and Ryan Babel.
Riise said: "I am not happy with the situation. I am used to playing in 80 per cent of all the games, but if I don't get to play as much as I want to I have to make a choice this summer as to whether I should stay or not.
"I just have to wait and see what will happen. Maybe I will be offered a new contract, maybe not. It's frustrating not knowing if you are going to play the next game or not."
The 27-year-old has scored 31 goals in 340 appearances for the Reds since moving to Anfield from AS Monaco in the summer of 2001.
