21:44: Fancy being there to watch Liverpool take on Cardiff at Wembley on Sunday 26th February? Enter our "That's Brilliant" competition for tickets now! Click here!

21:37: FULL TIME! Liverpool have reached the Carling Cup final, where they will play Cardiff City.

21:36: Almost a moment of magic from Sergio Aguero. He's not done much since coming off the bench, and his overhead kick is easily claimed by Reina. City running out of time now.

21:33: The clock is ticking. Four minutes added time. A goal for City now will force extra time. Andy Carroll is coming on for Liverpool to hold the ball up no doubt.

21:29: Crucial block by Agger denies Dzeko, atoning for his earlier error which allowed Dzeko to score at the back post. City pushing for a decisive goal with three minutes to go, as Liverpool bring on Martin Kelly for Craig Bellamy.

21:24: Johnson proves a threat to Liverpool almost immediately. Released by a good ball from Dzeko, Johnson cuts inside the full back and curls a left footed shot in to the arms of the well positioned Pepe Reina.

21:21: On comes Johnson for one of the City goalscorers - Nigel de Jong. A substitution with attacking intent from Roberto Mancini. They may now be liable to counter attacks, which will be music to the ears of Craig Bellamy, who has had a cracking game.

Henry Winter on Twitter: Unbelievable tie.... Bellamy makes it 3-2 on agg, 2-2 on the night. Poor defending by City tho. Amazing noise.

21:19: City preparing Adam Johnson to come on - they now need to score to get back in to the game.

philmcnulty on Twitter: Bellamy makes it 2-2 on the night and Liverpool back in front. For all money Dalglish has spent, a free transfer has been his best signing.

21:17: GOAL! Liverpool back on top with a lovely goal. Good work out wide by Kuyt who feeds the ball in to Bellamy, and after a lovely one-two with Glen Johnson, Bellamy curls home with his left foot. Has the Welshman set up a final clash with the Welshmen of Cardiff at Wembley?

OptaJoe on Twitter: 2 - Manchester City have scored with both of their shots on target tonight vs Liverpool. Clinical.

21:13: As things stand, we're heading for extra time, but after that extra time period, City would go through on away goals.

21:10: GOAL! Edin Dzeko gets City back on terms. Lovely teasing ball in by Alexander Kolarov and Dzeko evades his marker, Daniel Agger, to tap home from close range. 2-1 to City on the night, 2-2 on aggregate, and now Liverpool must score.

21:03: There's half an hour left for Manchester City to get themselves back on terms, and prevent a second cup exit this month. They were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United a few weeks back, with United travelling to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday.

20:57: It's the Joe Hart show. It's surely only a matter of time before Liverpool get a goal. This time it's Stewart Downing who is denied. He gets over his volley well and Hart's outstretched leg denies him. 10-1 on corners for Liverpool now.

20:55: Another big save from Hart. He was clumsy clearing the Liverpool free kick but he made up for it with an instinctive stop from Martin Skrtel's toe poked shot.

20:52: A bit of hesitancy in the Liverpool midfield nearly causes the home side some problems, but Gareth Barry lashes his shot over and wide. Of course, had things turned out different, Barry could be wearing Liverpool red tonight.

20:51: More chances for Liverpool as Kuyt is denied by Hart. A second goal for Liverpool in this match would make it a tall order for City to get back in to this one.

20:48: We're back underway at Anfield. Liverpool are 45 minutes away from Wembley.

alisonwhitfield on Twitter: Definite handball, never intentional, no one can decide whether that means penalty or not. Inconsistency of refereeing for you.

20:32: Half time at Anfield. It's as you were with Liverpool 2-1 up on aggregate, 1-1 on the night. Gerrard's penalty cancelling out De Jong's opener.

OptaJoe on Twitter: 3 - Steven Gerrard has scored all three of the penalties that he has taken against Joe Hart. Internationals.

20:25: GOAL! It's a repeat of the first leg as Steven Gerrard beats Joe Hart from the spot. That's 1-1 on the night, and Liverpool now lead 2-1 on aggregate. It means we now can't have penalties, but away goals only count after extra time.

20:24: PENALTY! Liverpool continue with their pressure and they get their reward as Micah Richards blocks Daniel Agger's goal bound shot with his hands.

20:23: Lovely ball by Charlie Adam in search of Dirk Kuyt and Joleon Lescott is at full stretch to divert it behind for a corner.

rugbymedia on Twitter: And there we have it. Pressure pressure pressure pressure from Liverpool, no goal and then conceding. All too standard.

20:18: Normal services resumes at the other end as Joe Hart denies Charlie Adam from close range.

20:16: GOAL! It's game on now. City haven't offered much going forward and it's an unlikely scorer too. Nigel de Jong slips while he shoots, but he manages to curl home a beauty from outside of the box to level the tie at 1-1.

MOgdenTelegraph on Twitter: Incredible that 60 clubs have played at new Wembley and Liverpool aren't one of them.

20:09: Liverpool get the ball in the back of the net but it won't count. Bellamy slotting the ball home confidently from an offside position, but unfortunately for the Reds, the linesman was on the ball and had his flag up.

20:05: Great work by Bellamy in the box, who creates space for himself with close ball control and his shot forces Hart in to a save. Like in many of their home games this season, Liverpool are creating lots of chances without finding the back of the net.

philmcnulty on Twitter: Roberto Mancini not happy and not surprising. Liverpool on top and playing to a higher tempo in the early stages.

20:01: First real foray forward by Manchester City. A good ball by David Silva frees Kolarov on the left but the full back doesn't commit himself, and his hopeful cross is comfortably headed behind by Daniel Agger.

g_bellward on Twitter: Liverpool have started like they want to get this tie done and dusted as soon as possible, which can only be good for the tie.

19:56: Liverpool creating plenty of chances early doors, Charlie Adam this time firing a right foot shot to Hart's left, but again it's relatively comfortable for the England number one.

19:52: Hart is tested again, this time by Glen Johnson who cuts in from the right and fires a left footed shot to the goalkeepers left. It was a comfortable save though for Hart.

19:51: It's a very similar start to the return leg. Liverpool have started like a house on fire, and Craig Bellamy is put through by Downing, only to take the ball a bit wide and have to settle for a corner.

19:49: Big save by Joe Hart. Good running from Stewart Downing and a mistake by Kolarov results in a big chance for Jose Enrique, but Hart's outstretched foot denies the Spanish full back.

19:45: We're underway at Anfield.

OptaJoe on Twitter: 24 - Liverpool have only lost one of their last 24 home games in all competitions, winning 13 and drawing 10. Kop.

19:43: Probably the biggest night Anfield will see all season. Liverpool are looking to reach their first Wembley final since 1996, and in turn, will be looking to add to their record seven titles.

mikespaceonline on Twitter: Right enough news, who's going to win the game tonight? Liverpool or Man City? I'm going for City.

19:36: Kenny Dalglish was very critical of his side at the weekend, and he will be looking for a response tonight. Meanwhile, City will be looking to reach back to back Wembley finals, having won the FA Cup final back in May.

19:33: Andy Carroll is on the bench for Liverpool, who opt to start with Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt up front.

19:32: Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield all season too.

19:30: City have won just twice on their last 42 visits to Anfield, and only two of the 25 teams who have lost the first leg at home have gone on to win. The omens, at least, are on Liverpool's side.

19:26: Liverpool have put themselves in a strong position ahead of this game, winning away from home in the first leg. Daniel Agger was brought down by Stefan Savic in the box, and Steven Gerrard converted from the spot.

19:19: We'll no doubt be in for some drama tonight. There was no shortage of drama in Cardiff last night as the Bluebirds progressed 3-1 after a penalty shootout. Anthony Gardner's own goal cancelled out his goal for Palace in the first leg, but Cardiff were unable to break down their opponents. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton was the hero in the shootout though, saving two spotkicks as Palace prevailed 3-1.

19:13: Tonight's game is live on SKY Sports 1, kick off at 7.45pm. You can get involved by including the #carlingcup hashtag in your tweets!

19:08: Liverpool line-up as follows - Reina; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Jose Enrique; Downing, Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Bellamy; Kuyt. Subs: Doni, Kelly, Carroll, Maxi, Coates, Carragher, Shelvey.

Manchester City line-up: Hart; Richards, Savic, Lescott, Zabaleta; De Jong, Barry; Silva, Nasri, Kolarov; Dzeko.

19:05: One man Manchester City will be without is Mario Balotelli - the Italian has been handed a four match ban for violent conduct in Sunday's league win over Tottenham. It's probably an omen for City - he has been sent off and subbed off after 30 minutes in the past two meetings between the two.

19:00: We're back once again and this time to find out who will play Cardiff in the 2012 Carling Cup Final. Liverpool take on Manchester City at Anfield, holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg courtesy of Steven Gerrard's penalty.
