The Briar Rose is typical of one of the newer Wetherspoon venues, with a more contemporary design, moving away from the more traditional pub setting, although the basic ethos here has not changed: cheap beer, cheap food and no music, it is also the first non smoking Wetherspoons pub. it is situated between the business district and central shopping areas and so attracts a mix of customers. Weekends are a busy time when party types come down here to warm up for the long nights ahead, great value makes it one of the pre-party pub destinations.
