An alternative club, Stairways is still very popular and hails itself as "The North West's Premier Rock Club" operating various nights ranging from 70s and 80s to heavy metal, to indie. It attracts quite a young crowd of rockers, goths and indie kids as this is one of the only places for miles which caters for their musical tastes. With an industrial steel door as its street entrance, once inside the decor is just as sparse with a predominance of black. However, customers here are more interested in the music and the atmosphere than the furniture.
