The Salamander is a salt of the earth, friendly, traditional ale house with a dark and cosy interior. Upstairs there is a restaurant serving good quality home-made food such as beer battered fish and chips and succulent steaks. Downstairs offers an excellent choice of real ales produced by the local brewery so CAMRA fans head here in their droves but so do lots of others seeking an oasis from the noise of juke boxes, fruit machines, deafening music and impersonal service.
