Years ago it was Jimmy's on St James Street, then Knights, then Sugaz and now full circle back to Jimmy's - there may be a new name and frontage, but the interior and ethos remains. A glitzy club venue that has a fairly varied itinerary of events (students on a Monday, 'urban' music Thursday, Motown Sunday), but the weekends boisterous party crowd set the very mainstream tone. Key to the popularity is the dropping of door charges and abundant promotions. Jimmys has had an interior refurb with the introduction of the smoking ban, originally the dance and back part of the venue was closed off during the day. As the access to Jimmy's smoking area is across the dance they have now opened the whole venue up, updating the carpets, soft furnishings and generally making the place feel brighter.
