Alice Gold - Brilliantly British
Alice Gold Wondrous Place

Have you seen the new Carling ad and found yourself wondering what that amazing song is? Have you been quizzing your friends or searching the internet trying to find out the title and artist? Well, search no more. The great new Carling commercial is set to the sounds of Alice Gold's 'Wondrous Place', which was originally recorded by British music legend Billy Fury and has also been covered by The Last Shadow Puppets.

Alice Gold is one of Britain's brightest up-and-coming music stars. A London-based English singer-songwriter, her debut single 'Orbiter' was released in September 2010, followed in April 2011 by the stunning 'Runaway Love'. Her debut album, 'Seven Rainbows', is on release now and was completed in just 22 days with no money from any record label. It didn't take long for the music industry to take note though and soon Fiction Records, home of Snow Patrol, Athlete and Elbow, snapped her up.

Alice Gold's journey has been dedicated to music from day one. Her desire for adventure and for living life to the full led her to buy a one-way ticket to America where she won a 1978 Winnebago in a poker game and spent the next six months weaving across the US alone. This is typical of Alice's lust for life, for taking in experiences and letting it feed into the one thing that matters to her: music. At one point she could be found lodging for free in a Luxembourg castle in exchange for English lessons; another time she took up residence on a boat in London, as a cheap way of avoiding the nine-to-five grind. But through all of this randomness, her focus on music was always there.

She's already played some of the biggest festivals going, including Glastonbury, T in the Park and V Festival - at both Chelmsford and Staffordshire sites, and we reckon she's going to headline many, many more. With a bold and distinctive voice, a unique pop-rock style and a particularly British sensibility, she was the perfect choice to accompany our ad's Brilliantly British journey to refreshment. Her cover brings 'Wondrous Place' into the 21st Century with a haunting energy and subtle magic and we hope you love it as much as we do.
